When you visit Genesis, you can expect... + to be warmly welcomed + to have your needs for hospitality met + to be challenged and inspired + to participate or observe depending on your comfort level Q: How long is the worship service?
A: About an hour Q: What happens in worship? A: Responsive prayer, Scripture readings, a sermon that explains the readings, the creed (a statement of beliefs), songs and hymns of praise, and communion are all included weekly. Q: What should I wear? .A: People wear what's comfortable for them. Most dress casually. So come as you are. Really. We don't have a dress code. Q: Is infant or adult baptism practiced? A: Infant baptism is embraced (for explanation please click "About Us" at the top of the page, and select"What We Believe" from the drop down menu). Of course, we also baptize teens and adults who have never received the sacrament. Q: How often is communion celebrated? A: We celebrate communion weekly, believing that Jesus is truly present in the bread and wine to give us himself and his promises. |
Q: Is there a nursery in case my kids get fussy? A: We believe that it's good for families to worship together, so we're okay with a little noise, but there is a room where you can take a fussy child and still hear the service. Q: What about children's church or classes for my children? A: Genesis is a new church "in formation," which means that we don't have age-specific ministries up and running yet, but we're looking for people who are willing to join our Launch Team to make that happen in the coming months. Q: Does the church embrace a contemporary or a traditional style of worship? A: Yes! We take a both/and approach to choosing music and worship elements. You will find Genesis to be traditionally grounded, but open to contemporary expressions of the faith as well. Q: What are the sermons like? A: Pastor Jeff Morlock preaches sermons that help us see our own story in God's story. Sermons aim to give listeners a biblical world-view based on God's commands and promises, and challenge them to take the next step that Jesus has for them as His disciples. |
